Expect the unexpected – your cycle may become irregular, your core temperature may fluctuate, your sight may show signs of weakness, your appetite may change, you may notice your joints screaming at you, maybe your sleep is suffering – a whole host of changes are on the horizon or maybe you are already experiencing them.

1 – Listen to your body – cheesy as this may sound – this is now, in my opinion crucial. Our minds are telling us we can still do things we did in our younger years however our bodies are perhaps slightly or massively disagreeing. The Key this is to adapt with the changes being experienced. Don’t fight it – recognise it, acknowledge it and educate yourself about it.

2- Speak to your GP – ask for help – it could be in the form of HRT or just someone to help you achieve some perspective on your experience – search for local support groups – there are numerous groups popping up online and in person. You are not alone there are more women out there ready to talk.

3 – Slow down – this will help lower your STRESS load which will have a knock on effect on your hormonal health and balance. Going for walks is a winner, being outdoors can affect your mood and mental well-being.

4 – Rainbow Food – our gut health is key to our hormonal balance – increasing the amount of brightly coloured vegetables, dark leafy greens, beans and pulses will encourage a happy and healthy guy. Increasing these foods will also leave less space for starchy stodgy foods which ‘Slow’ the gut down having adverse effects on our bodies including STRESS levels increasing. This will give you a sense of achievement and control of your health and lifestyle.

5 – Strength Train – if you know me you’ll know you should be doing this already! At this stage in life it will help reduce the risk of osteoporosis due to the fluctuations in our key reproductive hormones. ASWELL as being an efficient way of keeping fit, healthy and happy. You will NOT become bulky – people spend many months if not years achieving bulky status so don’t worry you are no not at risk of becoming ‘THE ROCK’ with a few squats and deadlifts.

Don’t look for the light at the end of the tunnel……YOU are the light….Shine Bright xx
